Amarnath Yatra: HC seeks details of quarantine facilities, treatment of COVID-19 patients

Jammu, July 3: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has sought full details to provide quarantine facilities to COVID-19 suspects and treatment of the positive patients during the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Advocate Sachin Sharma has filed an application the Court to seek directions to Govt of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir/ Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and all other relevant agencies not to commence Shri Amarnath Yatra-2020 without satisfying this Court on all counts of preparedness and especially in view of growing COVID-19 pandemic.
A Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul issued notice to the respondents, notices were accepted by AAG Aseem Sawhney for the respondents.
The DB asked Adv Sachin Sharma to examine the position with regard to the orders passed by the Supreme Court relating to religious gatherings and Yatra and informed the court the position regarding the government orders in respect of religious shrines and yatras including the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
The DB further directed Aseem Sawhney, AAG to place the proposal and decision of the Government with regard to the Shri Amar Nath Yatra and he shall also place before us the number of daily visitors in the Shri Amar Nath Yatra and the manner in which the COVID-19 precautions shall be ensured and, in case the Shri Amar Nath Yatra is being permitted, the manner in which the respondents would ensure the issues relating to the COVID-19 infections.
The DB further directed AAG to give full details of the manner in which the respondents propose to provide for quarantine of suspected patients and treatment of COVID-19 during the Yatra.
In the application it has been submitted that Shri Amarnath Yatra commences with lot of preparedness and zeal by the administration of Union Territory of J&K. That J&K government provides security apparatus to the yatra and their exists three tire system of Army, BSF and J&K Police to provide protection and logistics to the yatra. JNF
