Div Com Jammu inspects Jammu Ring Road project

JAMMU, July 3: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma today inspected the readiness of the Jammu Ring Road Phase-I Section connecting Akhnoor Road to Kot Bhalwal for devoting to public by end of this month.
National Highways Authority of India is constructing the Jammu Ring Road from Raya Morh Km. -0+687 to Km. 57+568. This section will be the first Phase of the Ring Road to be opened for Public. It will significantly reduce the travel time for people travelling between Northern Parts of Jammu to Akhnoor, Rajouri, Poonch and Kashmir etc. It will also reduce the decongestion of Jammu City.
Hem Raj, IDSE Regional Officer (J&K), NHAI who was also present during the visit informed that Jammu Ring Road is a prestigious Project of National Importance of Govt. of India under Bharat Mala Parriyojna for decongestion of Jammu City. It is being constructed by EPC Contractor i.e. M/s Gayatri-KMB JV appointed by NHAI and work started in Year 2018. The 8 Km long first phase to be inaugurated by the end of this month is starting from its Junction with NH-144 (Akhnoor Road) where the Jammu Ring Road is passing over a flyover and connecting to Akhnoor road will be through service roads which will cross the Ranbir Canal over steel girder bridges. This Phase ends in the Bhalwal area, 2 Km ahead of the Kot Bhalwal Road uptothe viaduct. Two 4-lane tunnels and viaducts are under construction as part of Phase-V which will connect this road to Jagti. The Project has Rs. 1339 Crores of Civil Construction Cost. The Ring Road/Bypass around Jammu City has six phases which includes Phase-I i.e. (Bhalwal Tehsil)-Km. 41+600 to Km. 50+000connectsKangrail, Akhnoor Road-Bhalwal Road and expected to be completed by end of July, 2020, Phase-II i.e. (Mandal Tehsil)-Km. 20+700 to Km. 26+058 connects Nikki Tawi-Sohanjana-Brahmili-Waddi Tawi and expected to be completed by end of Sept, 2020, Phase-III i.e.
(Bari Brahmana Tehsil & Bishnah Tehsil)-Km. -0+687 to Km. 10+000 connects Raya Morh, Sarore, Bishnah and Kunjwani and expected to be completed by end of Dec, 2020, Phase-IV i.e. (Bishnah & R S Pura)-Km. 10+000 to Km. 20+255 connects Muralia, R S Pura, Miran Sahib & Lalyal and expected to be completed by end of Aug, 2021, Phase-V i.e. (Jammu North & Nagrota)-Km. 50+000 to Km. 57+568 connects Bhalwal, Kheri, Jagti & Nagrota and expected to be completed by end of May, 2021 and finally Phase-VI i.e. (Marh Tehsil)-Km. 26+058 to Km. 41+600 connects Waddi Tawi, Ghomanashah, Galwaday Chak, Channu Chak, Jheri Road, Kangrail-Akhnoo Road and expected to be completed by end of Aug, 2021.
