JKPDC faces shortage of engineers, several posts vacant

Jammu, July 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) is facing shortage of engineers at different levels, which has affected its smoothing functioning in creation and generation of power.
Although JKPDC has sole responsibility of creation and generation of power projects across the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and which can be fulfilled if there is full strength of engineers at upper levels but presently several posts of engineers from Chief Engineers to Assistant Executive Engineers are lying vacant and the corporation has been struggling to get these posts filled.
As per details available with Early Times, the total strength of Chief Engineers in the JKPDC is seven but right now five posts are lying vacant. Similarly, out of 5 posts of Superintending Engineer/ Chief Project Engineer three are lying vacant. As far as Executive Engineers posts are concerned of 35 posts, 12 posts are lying vacant and of 82 posts of Assistant Executive Engineers 53 posts are vacant.
Sources informed that the JKPDC has sent repeated communication to the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department to deploy engineers from Civil Side to fill the vacant posts to make the functioning of the Corporation hassle free but till date the Jal Shakti Department has taken any step to fill up the posts.
They further informed that JKPDC has also sent details of vacant posts to Power Development Department under communication number JKSPDC/ADM/EG-47/1244-45 dated 24-6-2020, which conveyed present situation of vacant posts of engineers at different levels and requested to deploy engineers against the vacant posts either by promotion of engineers from civil side borne on the establishment of the Power Development or may take up the matter with Jal Shakti Department for deputation/ deployment of engineers against these vacancies.
