POONCH, July 4: On the directions of Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Mohammad Akbar Wani, an enforcement team of officials from Legal Metrology Poonch and Rajouri under the supervision of Assistant Controller, Kewal Krishan, conducted surprise raids on various trade establishment including petrol pumps in the twin districts of Pir Panchal area.
During the checking, the enforcement team detected one nozzle of a petrol pump in Surankote area of Poonch which was delivering 30 ml lesser fuel in every five liter measure of fuel. The team immediately booked the management of the pump and seized the nozzle and stopped the supply of the fuel.
The management of the defaulter pump while confessing the lapses pleaded for composition of the case at department level.
The Assistant Controller, on assurance from the concerned that they will not repeat such offence in future, imposed a fine of Rs.15,000 on the pump and directed the management to check delivery of every nozzle at least thrice a day and in case of lesser or excessive delivery, immediately stop sale from such nozzle (s) and request the department for its recalibration.
The team directed the management of all fuel stations to keep a 5-litre verified measure at the premises so as to empower a consumer to check the delivery as well.
The Assistant Controller warned the Management of the concerned pumps to remain cautious in future and in case of any fault on their part they can be blacklisted.
