Jammu, July 4: Jhajhar Kotli Police have claimed to arrest two persons for illegal smuggling of poppy straw from Jeda area during routine checking.
Sources said that during a naka checking at Jeda, the police party of PP Manwal headed by HC Mohinder Kumar under the command of IC PP Manwal SI Vikram Jasrotia intercepted a truck bearing no. PB10 GX-2387 coming from Udhampur.
On checking the 3 kg 200 gm poppy straw was recovered from polythene bags kept inside the cabin of truck. The driver namely Vinod Kumar resident of Baheri Tehsil Dinanagar Distt Gurdaspur and cleaner namely Rachpal Singh resident of Chaunta Tehsil Dinanagar Distt Gurdaspur Punjab were arrested and vehicle seized. In this connection FIR No. 119/2020 u/s 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Jhajhar Kotli, and further investigation is in progress. |
