DDC Kathua discusses District Convergence Plan, PMAGY

KATHUA, July 6 : District Development Commissioner, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a meeting of the members of the District Convergence Plan Committee to finalize the District Convergence Plan, here.
Assistant Commissioner (Dev), Chief Planning Officer, Project Officer DRDA, District Social Welfare officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Child Development Project Officer Kathua, Barnoti, Billawar, Bani, Duggan, Lahoi- Malhar, Hiranagar attended the meeting.
District Programme Officer, ICDS, Ritu Mahajan briefed the District Level Committee members about the progress at different levels for effective implementation of Convergence Plan under ‘POSHAN ABHIYAN’
The DDC Kathua emphasized on the need to have close coordination among the departments to get desired results. He directed ACD ] and DPO, ICDS, to involve the PRIs in the Poshan Abhiyan and organize regular meetings of all concerned departments.
He reiterated that the funds for construction of Anganwadi centers and water facilities should be spent well in time. He also took up the matter of installation of water Filters in the Anganwadi Centres for safe drinking water and shifting of Anganwadi Centres to the vacant schools.
The Home Visits should be jointly done by Anganwadi Workers and Asha Workers, directed DDC.
The progress made at various levels including Construction of Anganwadi Centres, Toilets and Water Facilities in the Anganwadi Centres, Organizing of VHSND (Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day) and CBE (Community Based Event) with the coordination of the Health department were also discussed.
Later, the DDC also chaired an Introductory Meeting cum Awareness meet for PRI representatives under Pradhan Mantri Adharash Gram Yojna (PMAGY).
District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem informed the meeting about the objective of the centrally sponsored scheme PMAGY. He said that 37 villages of Kathua district having over 50% of Schedule Caste population has been selected for the scheme.
The DDC said the scheme was aimed to uplift the social and economic status of the identified populace and to strengthen development infrastructure in such villages. He said the scheme is meant to fill the gap through convergence with the help of active identification and monitoring by the representatives of PRI’s.
The DDC called upon the field functionaries to keep a close eye on growth indicators in all 37 identified villages where development projects will be taken up under the laid down procedures.
Earlier DSWO briefed the Panchs and Sarpanchs about the key features of the scheme.
