7/7/2020 12:27:33 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 6: A meeting of All India Jat Mahasabha (AIJM), J&K was held in Tehsil Akhnoor, under the Chairmanship of its president Ch Manmohan Singh.
The meeting, which was attended by the office bearers from 3 tehsils of Akhnoor, Khour and Jourian had been called to discuss some Biradri’s pending issues, put on hold due to pandemic lockdown.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that now J&K is under unlockdown phase, hence we can take up our issues before the authorities, adding that particularly, our demand for OBC category for Jats of J&K, on guidelines at par with the Jats of rest of India, especially after the abrogation of Art 370.
Choudhary demanded that Govt should consider our biradari for this reservation, Jats of J&K are living in border areas, their basic livelihood is agriculture, the border firing not only uproots them from their houses but kill their family members, their livestock, destroy their lands and disrupts the education of their children, which makes it difficult for them to compete for Govt jobs or any other job.
He said that we as a biradari should unite ourselves, only then can we stand to achieve. Our unity can open those doors for us, which could not be accessed before. But if we don’t unite or become one, our voices will be lost in this process.
In order to take the thought process of the Biradari forward, Ch Manmohan Singh formed a 11 member committee, with Ch Omkar Singh Retd Joint Director Agriculture and Ashok Choudahry, Retd Executive Engineer as committee heads.
