Kashmir making Jammu suffer
7/8/2020 12:13:10 AM

Nationalist people of Jammu are facing unprecedented situation due to them being clubbed with Kashmir. They have been without high speed internet services for the past 11-months and it appears that they will have to remain without this vital facility for some more time.
The high speed internet services in Jammu and Kashmir were suspended of August 5, 2019, when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and divided the erstwhile State into two union territories, J&K and Ladakh. Eventually 2G services were restored but there has been no word on 4G internet data. The helmsmen seem to be in no mood to comment on the issue.
People are asking why are the denizens of Jammu being punished for terrorism being prevalent in Kashmir? One can understand that there are security concerns in Kashmir but there are no such concerns in Jammu as the people of this region have always stood behind the security forces and have helped them in every way to fight the scourge of Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
People handling the affairs of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir should realize that people of Jammu cannot be punished for what’s happening in the Valley.
History stands testimony to the fact that Jammu has been paying a heavy price for it being clubbed with Kashmir since 1947. For the past 70-years this region faced discrimination at the hands of Kashmir centric leaders and last year it lost its statehood due to the blunders committed by the politicians from the Valley.
It’s not only restoration of 4G internet what people of Jammu are demanding the voices in the region are becoming shriller to give separate statehood to Jammu and leave terrorism infested Kashmir alone.
People of this region are fed up of being linked with Kashmir. They want to make a new beginning so that they don’t suffer due to Kashmir. Main reason for 4G internet being blocked in J&K are the Pakistan sponsored terrorists and their bosses sitting across the Line of Control. They misuse internet and social media to radicalize Kashmiri youth. But they have failed to make an impact in Jammu region as they have been rejected by people of all the religions.
This is digital age but the people of Jammu have been pushed to the edge as the internet which is prerequisite for any kind of activity has been choked. This needs to be restored at the earliest.
