Zonal workshop of KVKs of North Zone held

JAMMU, July 7: Zonal workshop of KVKs-2020 to review the progress of preceding year and discuss the action plan for 2020-21 of KVKs of North Zone held online through virtual mode 020 in which all the seven KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu viz, Jammu, Kathua, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Samba actively participated.
Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare of Government of India was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Dr T. Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) and DG (ICAR), New Delhi and Dr A.K. Singh, DDG (Agril. Ext), ICAR, New Delhi were guests of honour on the occasion. A panel discussion under the chairmanship of Dr A K Singh DDG (Agril. Ext), ICAR, New Delhi involving Prof. J P Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J, Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnatak, Vice Chancellor, VCSG UUHF, Bharsar, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU, Ludhiana, Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice Chancellor, Dr. YS Parmar UHF, Solan, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sarial, Vice-Chancellor, CSK HPKV, Palampur, Dr. Nazeer Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Srinagar, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana and Dr, Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor, GBPUAT, Pantnagar, who put forth their views. Professor J P Sharma Vice chancellor SKUAST-J stressed upon the adoption of protected cultivation, Integrated farming system, participatory seed production programmes, commodity specific village approach and more use of ICT and other electronic media through virtual platforms for coordinated efforts for sustainable and increased production followed by their value added production and transformation into producer organisation for making the farmers and other stakeholders Atamnirbar.
