Jammu, July 9: Members of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) today staged a protest demonstration in support of the aspiring coaches whose interviews were still not conducted for the posts advertised in 2016 despite High Court directions.
Led by senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, the JKAP members assembled at the Exhibition Ground near Press Club Jammu and protested against J&K Sports Council for their failure to conduct interviews in the last four years.
Amid shouting slogans against the Council, the JKAP activists alleged discrimination with the coaches who have been facing livelihood crises due to the incompetence of the council.
The JKAP has threatened that if the recruitment process is not started within 10 days, they will be forced to launch agitation in favour of the coaches waiting for their interviews.
“There is no scope for their livelihood of the coaches who were interviewed but their selection process was not complete despite directions from the J&K High Court,” alleged Raqeeq Ahmed Khan.
Khan said “The J&K State Sports Council had advertised various posts for appointments in the year 2016. However, the recruitment process against these posts was initiated and was to complete by April 2018.”
The J&K Apni Party, senior youth leader, said that the J&K Sports Council had issued notification to fill-up the vacant posts through a notification on August 24, 2016 for the posts of Junior Coaches for which the interviews were also conducted in January 2017. However, the result was never declared despite the fact that there were only 17 eligible candidates against 48 posts of the Junior Coaches.
“The delaying tactics have discouraged the sportsmen and the youth looking for their career in sports even as many of them have played at Union Territory, State level, inter-State level, national and international level,” he said.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest include Sandeep Gandotra, Amandeep Singh Chopra, Hiteshwar Singh, Vaibhav Mattoo, varun Ankush, Dhanjay,akdas alli and others. |
