JMC discuss issues of weaker sections of society

Jammu, July 9: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta today chaired a meeting in the conference hall of JMC in which threadbare discussions were held for the redressal of the issues of weaker sections of the society.
The meeting was attended by Dy. Mayor, Adv. Purnima Sharma, Commissioner, JMC Avny Lavasa, Chairperson Social Justice Standing Committee, Jeet Kumar Angral and Asstt. Director (Adm), Social Welfare Department, Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal. Officers/officials of JMC.
Mayor, JMC issued instructions to the officer from Social Welfare Department that the demand of the Councillor that they should be allowed atleast 100 pension cases for which they make a list of the very deserving people of the ward who are very needy and don’t have any other source of livelihood.
These pension cases should be taken without any hassle to the individual. There are no funds available for State Marriage Assistance scheme with the department due to which many families still haven’t received any amount and it needs to be addressed at the earliest. At least 5 Scotties be allotted to Councillor of each ward which should be distributed amongst the helpless handicapped people and similarly at least 10 Wheelchairs should be allotted to Councillor of each ward which should be distributed amongst the helpless handicapped people. It is also suggested that Social Justice Standing Committee must be involved in the meetings or any other schemes /inaugurations so that Social Justice Standing Committee of JMC also gets the information which is beneficial for the public.
Officer from Social Welfare Department assured the Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation that every possible steps to be taken for redressal of the genuine demands of the weaker sections of society and necessary instructions be issued to the staff to take the issues of Councillors on priority basis.
