7/11/2020 12:05:57 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 10: Nearly six-month back Central government had announced to conduct investigation of pediatric deaths due to unknown reason in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district but nothing has been done so far.
Families of victim children are still waiting for justice because poor children had lost their lives due to spurious medicine. 11 children died of an unknown disease and six others took ill in a span of 15 days in Ramnagar tehsil here. The 11 children, who belonged to over a dozen villages in a radius of over 30 kms in Ramnagar, were either attended by local quacks or medical assistants.
Ten children between the age group of two months to six years have died in the month of January this year. There were around 10 to 15 villages in a radius of 30 kms in Ramnagar tehsil where the children died due to undiagnosed disease. On application of social activist, Sukesh C Khajuria, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) have already taken note into the death of these children allegedly due to the consumption of spurious medicines. Most of the children who died belonged to poor and their parents have little comprehension of what has happened… the deaths need to be probed to provide justice to the victims and their families.
