| Irrigation FC department Poonch becomes hub of corruption | | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, July 10: After the September flood 2014, tainted officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department officials have ‘looted’ government exchequer on fake works under Non Plan, SDRF and BADP.
Sources said that status of many permanent flood restoration works was checked by anti graft agencies time and again and it was found that most of the works did not exist on the ground. On the name of permanent restoration and temporary restoration of many embankments cools and drains huge funds were withdrawn.
Sources further said that contactors are running the department as the officials seems to be a weak boss in the department whose main interest is to enjoy the post. Sources further said there is no proper record of works and funds utilization on the ground and officials are engaged in enjoyment with some blue eyed contractor.
Many officials of the department right from JE, AEs to XEn become crorepati over the years and people are waiting for works. Locals from many areas have informed early times that no work for irrigation and flood control has been done after flood 2014 and Department has released billions of rupees funds against permanent and temporary restoration. They have appealed to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu to constitute a team to investigate the matter and take strict action against guilty officials.
Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control in his officials statement said, “many works have been chosen for enquiry and the department will enquire all issues and take notice against culprits”.
