Administration failure: Public Park turned into stray cattle zone
7/12/2020 10:35:54 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

KUPWARA, July 12: A Public Park, constructed by the Tourism Department in Zangli area of Kupwara town here has been turned into a stray cattle’s grazing field with people alleging that the concerned department was watching all that as mute spectator.
According to sources, the park is continuously being damaged by some miscreants who vandalize prized Deodar furniture of its huts, benches and iron railings to convert it into a free zone area for cattle.
Stray cattle that roam around freely and their litter have ruined Public Park’s beauty, sources said.
Locals said that the families will always prefer to spend time with their loved ones after their hectic workload in such parks but the negligence of local authorities stopped families from entertaining their children as well as loved ones. They, however, appealed to the local administration to maintain and manage the park properly for the sake of people, who want to spend their leisure time in such public places.
“They said if the Tourism Department was unable to maintain it, they should hand over the park to private parties who can take care of it and also add more facilities there.”
Meanwhile, an official said that the breach is because of open space from one side where the bridge connects, it is possible for cattle to enter this park and added that the security guard was not on duty due to lockdown in the district.
