Admin to strictly implement COVID-19 SOPs, guidelines: DC B'la

BARAMULLA, July 12: Amid spike in COVID-19 positive cases, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today reiterated that administration will strictly implement all the related SOPs and guidelines for mitigating the risk of infection.
During a press brief, the DC said that a viable mechanism has been framed to ensure that public health is not compromised in any way adding that any kind of laxity won’t be tolerated in the larger public interest.
While elaborating the details as envisaged in the SOPs, DC said that district administration has taken some serious initiatives for controlling the spread of coronavirus but these methods wouldn’t yield any positive result without the cooperation of the general public.
Dr Itoo said that a special women squad shall be formulated who shall monitor the implementation of requisite SOPs by the women.
DC also informed that it shall be mandatory for every shopkeeper to have COVID-19 negative certificate issued by the competent authority, without which the shopkeeper won’t be allowed to open their shops.
He said that administration has decided to fumigate the entire market once in every week so that sanitation is maintained and further said that about 39 areas have been identified as potential hotspots wherein special measures shall be taken which includes random sampling, mass testing etc.
Regarding the work on developmental projects, DC said that a nodal officer has been appointed with the mandate to monitor whether the health advisories especially maintaining social distancing and using safety gears are being adhered to by the workers at the project sites.
He also informed that concerned SDMs and Tehsildars shall monitor the implementation of these SOPs and guidelines in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, DC informed that so far about 28000 samples have been tested among which 1251 were found positive and among these positive cases, 513 have recovered thereby leaving only 707 as active cases, moreover, 32 deaths have also been reported in the district.
He said that about 45 shops have so far been sealed for violating the prescribed guidelines and an amount of Rs 59500 was realized as fine besides 3 FIRs that were also registered against the violators.
He further said that special flying squads have sealed about 14 gym centres for violating the laid down guidelines adding that more such vigorous measures shall be taken in the coming days.
