SAMBA, July 13: District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Jal Shakti department.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour, Executive Engineer PHE Division Samba, Executive Engineer, GWDD Jammu, Executive Engineer, Flood Control division Samba, besides Assistant Executive Engineers of PHE department besides other concerned. The DDC reviewed the status of various ongoing works under different schemes of Jal Shakti department including status of Jal Jeevan Mission, repair of Hand Pumps, physical and financial status of District CAPEX budget, status of Languishing Projects, NABARD Projects, Hand pumps under DMFT and measures of anti-flood on Basanter river.
He asked for clearance of flood spill channels and speedy de-silting at vulnerable spots to reduce the threat of floods. To check quality of drinking water, the DDC directed the concerned to test the same both at uptake points as well as delivery points. He further asked for responding to complaints on regular basis besides developing a proper mechanism for obtaining feedback from the general public.
Later, the DDC reviewed progress of various languishing projects of PHE department and directed the concerned to finish works within the stipulated time.
