Chemist tested positive in Chingam, doctor put under quarantine

JAMMU, July 13: After a vegetable vendor found positive for COVID-19 in Chingam, a local Chemist in this far flung area of Chatroo Sub Division in Kishtwar District also tested positive today. While two others cases with a travel history along with a driver also tested positive in Kishtwar district. As per the details available with Early Times, following the Chemist comes positive, the doctor posted in the local PHC was put under quarantine since the doctor had come in close contact with the positive case and today morning itself share a cold drink with the Chemist. After hearing about the positive report of the local Chemist, the team of doctors and police immediately swung into action and shifted the COVID positive Chemist to COVID care center in Kishtwar. According to officials, the contact tracking is underway and as many as 60 contacts including some patients examined by the doctor as well as those who purchase the medicines from the Chemist shop has been put under home quarantine while the close contact including the doctor has been shifted to quarantine center. The officials said that people had been requested to come forward voluntarily for COVID testing in case they have come in close contact with the COVID positive. Meanwhile, a driver from Saroor area was also tested positive and his contact tracing is also being done. The driver according to officials was tested at Assar Nakka as a part of random sampling. Following the surfacing of the positive cases, Sub Divisional Magistrate Chatroo had order for closure of all picnic spots and advice the people and the families not to visit any picnic places at Mughal Maidan and Chatroo. Administration has issued strict warning to all those who will violate the orders in terms of banning on picnics in Chatroo Sub Division. Kishtwar District till date reported 50 COVID positive cases and among them 25 positive cases has successfully treated while 25 cases are still active, mostly comprises of security and police personnel.
