Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 14: My husband who beats me frequently demanding dowry, abandoned me at Jammu in November 2019, when we came here from Poonch for my treatment said Safeena Bi, wife of Mohammad Safeer, a SPO posted in District Police Line Poonch.
“I spent six months in Nari Niketan Jammu, meanwhile I filed a case of domestic violence and dowry against my husband at Police Post (Neha) Chinore, but due to COVID-19 pandemic Police did not register my case”, said Safeena a mother of three children.
“Feeling deprived of my rights; I knocked on the door of the Court. The court directed PP Chinore to register a case. During a public darbar on March 16, 2020 I also met IG Jammu and submitted my complaint narrating my suffering after marriage. The IG Office forwarded my complaint to the concerned officer, but no action has been taken so far”, she claimed.
“Now, sensing trouble as he was summoned by Jammu Court, my husband has filed a case against me at a Court in Poonch, now he is blaming me and those who helped me for all the bad things”, she said.
Dr Sushil Kumar, who treated and also provide support to the aggrieved woman to fight for her right, said, “Mohammad Safeer brought his wife here in November 2019, the lady has stomach disorder and heart related diseases, after long treatment now she is fine. I spent at least Rs 60,000 from my pocket for her treatment, now her husband is is blaming me as well.”
Mohammad Safeer when contacted for his version claimed that his wife was kidnapped. “I want to resign from this service as no one in my department is helping me”, he said, using abusive language against SP Poonch and other officers.
In charge Police Post Chinore, when contacted said that on the direction of Court FIR has been registered in the case.
“It was a matrimonial dispute, on the direction of Hon’ble CJM Jammu a FIR 40/2020 under section 323, 504, 506 IPC stands registered against the accused person”, he added.
“Accused person was summoned on Court’s order and the lady refused to return home on the pretext of life threat”, he added.
