EARLY TIMES REPORT

KATHUA, July 14: People found violating COVID-19 SOPs with impunity outside Deputy Commissioner Kathua's office which has put the lives of people visiting the premises at grave risk.
The open violation of social distancing was witnessed continuously for the last two days at DC Office Kathua but unfortunately the authorities have failed to take notice of the situation.
In violation of the social distancing protocol and without wearing face masks, long queues of applicants could be seen standing in close contact with each other to apply for Domicile Certificates.
People were seen pushing each other to reach the window counter to submit the forms for issuance of Domicile Certificate and GR Receipt. People were also seen sitting in groups in close proximity outside the counters and park in the premises of DC Office Kathua.
The administration did not bother to ensure adherence of social distancing guidelines and not even paid attention to mark the white circles for the queues. Moreover, administration also failed to depute the police personnel to maintain social distancing norms.
When the Early Times team visited DC office premises there was no arrangement for sanitizers and hand washing outside the gate of DC Office for visitors.
Meanwhile, locals expressed concern over the violation of social distancing norms at public places particularly at DC office premises under the nose of district administration.
“The carelessness clearly shows that administration is in deep slumber and not serious about the imminent threat of coronavirus. It must ensure the required arrangements to prevent the spread of Covid-19 otherwise the situation in Kathua city could turn dangerous,” they said.
It is pertinent to mention here that total reported corona positive cases in district Kathua are 326, out of which 229 have recovered while active cases in district are 96.
