Dir H&H chairs Artisans & Weavers meet

JAMMU, July 15: Director Handicrafts & Handlooms (H&H), Vikas Gupta, today urged the artisans and Weavers of Jammu to participate in Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (IHGF)- Delhi which has gone virtual in view of Covid pandemic.
IHGF is amongst Asia’s largest gifts & handicrafts fair, held biannually (Spring & Autumn edition) and is organised by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).
“In step with the new normal, the 49th edition of the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (IHGF)- Delhi Fair has gone virtual showcasing how wearer/artesian in this pandemic can still be relevant and sell their products”, Gupta said while chairing an Artisans and Weavers meet, here at Meeting Hall, UDYOG Bhawan.
The meeting was convened to aware the artisans/wearers about participation and registration in virtual show from their homes and sell their products in the times of Covid -19 pandemic.
Gupta said though it’s a new platform and a large number of buyers are expected to visit the show to source their requirement. “An Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a key identification number which is mandatory for export or import, once IEC Code is generated, the firm/individual is eligible to register for RCMC (Registration Cum Membership Certificate) through Handicrafts & Handloom Department,” the Director informed.
While addressing the problems/issues of Artisans & Wearers of various societies, Gupta suggested the weavers to make the products with focused approach and popularize the craft of Jammu on handloom fabrics.
Joint Director Handicrafts Jammu, Anju Gupta; Deputy Director (ADM), Ghulam Rasool; Development Officer Handicrafts (Tex), Fareed Ahmed Kohli, Deputy Director (Plg), Megha Baogia, Deputy Registrar Induscos Jammu, Joginder Mangool, senior officers of the Handicrafts and Handloom department besides leading entrepreneurs and craftsmen of Handicraft/Handloom sector attended the meeting.
