BDC Chairperson flays Govt for insufficient funds to Panchayats of Dansal

NAGROTA, July 15: BDC Chairperson, Block Dansal, Reena Thappa expressed resentment against the government for giving step motherly treatment to all the Panchayats falling under Block Dansal during the Budgetary Allocation of 15th Finance Commission Plan for the year 2020-2021. In a statement issued here today, BDC Chairperson said that as per past practice, the government has allocated lowest funds this year too to the two Panchayats i.e, Dansal and Kanayala falling under Block Dansal. She mentioned that there are total 15 Panchayats in Block Dansal.
The BDC Chairperson said that last year too after Panchayat elections, the aforesaid Panchayats granted lowest funds in the 14th Finance Commission Plan for the year 2019-2020 and the same was followed this year also by allotting same funds to these Panchayats which will not be accepted at any cost to the people of the area.
“In Panchayat Dansal, funds to the tune of Rs 4,84,846 and for Panchayat Kanayala funds Rs 6,74,922 were allocated by the government for the year plan 2020-2021 of 15th FC Plan which were the lowest if we compare to other Panchayats of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory,” Thappa rued.
Raising concern over the issue, the BDC Chairperson has took up the matter with Director Rural Development Department and apprised him of the step-motherly treatment being given to the people of Dansal and Kanayala Panchayats but nothing has been done in this regard. She asserted that it’s the duty of government to resolve and fix the grievances of people so that they may not feel alienated. The BDC Chairperson appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to give due consideration to genuine issues of inhabitants of Dansal and Kanayala Panchayats and issue necessary directions to the authorities concerned failing which they have no other option to come on roads to get their due share.
