Market checking held, Rs 8000 fine imposed on violators

Kishtwar, July 31: A joint team of enforcement agencies today conducted a surprise market checking here in the main Kishtwar town and fined the traders for different violations including overcharging.
The checking was conducted amid public complaints about overcharging and sale of poor quality and unhygienic stuff by shopkeepers ahead of holly festival of Eid ul Azha.
The team inspected several establishments including vegetable, fruit, mutton and poultry shops. The officials destroyed rotten vegetables and substandard dairy items and charged Rs. 8000 as fine from the erring traders. The enforcement team was headed by Tehsildar Kishtwar Pramood Kumar, officials of CAPD, Municipal Committee Kishtwar and police team from Police Station Kishtwar led by SHO Ajaiz Wani assisted the team in successful conduct of Market checking. The people emphasized upon the authorities to carry out regular market checking so as to keep check on over charging by the vendors as well as by the shopkeepers.
The people also called for fixing of rate list on all shops.
Moreover one meat shop was also sealed for violations and for not paying compound fine and one shopkeeper was also taken into custody, however later on was released after furnishing an affidavit with the directions to prepare the requisite documents and install Electronic weighing machine.
