Samba Administration retrieves 2292.16 Kanal State Land in last one year

SAMBA ,July , 31: District Administration Samba, while tightening the noose around the notorious activities of land grabbers, carried out series of anti-encroachment drives in the district and retrieved 2292-16 kanal state land valuing crores in last one year.
Going tough against them, it also slapped Public Safety Act on the notorious criminals involved in land grabbing mafia.
Giving details on account of the achievements of Revenue department, District Magistrate, Rohit Khajuria informed that “Revenue officers carried out multiple anti-encroachment drives in the district and ensured zero instance of land grabbing. In past one year alone, over 2292 Kanal prime land was retrieved by conducting anti encroachment drives in the district”.
He further added that taking cognizance of such illegal activities, Samba administration today slapped Public Safety Act against two notorious criminals, Chain Singh of Birpur, Tehsil Bari Brahmana and Harbans Singh alias Asla of Vijaypur. “They were involved in a number of criminal activities and were a threat to the life and property of the people of the district,” he added.
The anti encroachment drives carried out in the district from last one year included retrieval of 200 Kanal unauthorized colony at Patli, Baribrahmana, Dismantling of RCC boundary walls at Balol Bridge around 16 Kanal, clearing of unauthorized encroachment at Bus Stand in Samba town, eviction on 300 kanal state at Thandi Khui, retrieval of 121 kanal state land at Anand farms, (dismantling of Anand farms), taking repossession of 30 kanal land near District Court Complex, 10 marlas around Samba Market, 110 kanal state land at Birpur, 101 kanal at Ghagwal and various other places.
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate issued strict warning to land mafia active in district that any attempt to convert the status of the state land shall be dealt with iron hand. He also exhorted upon the revenue staff to adopt zero tolerance policy against land grabbers. He appealed to the general public to immediately inform him in case of any attempt of land grabbing is made.
