Early Times Report

Kulgam, Aug 3: An Army soldier was abducted by suspected terrorists late on Sunday (2 August) in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, reports said.
They said that a personnel of Indian Territorial Army, identified as Shakir Manzoor, was abducted from his home in Rambhama village of Kulgam while he is on leave to celebrate Eid-u-Adha.
Sources revealed to Early Times that militants intercepted the vehicle bearing registration number JK22B 3968 near Rambhama village and abducted him.
After his abduction, local authorities in Kulgam found Manzoor’s private vehicle torched and it is being said that militants have torched the vehicle at the time of abduction.
While security forces have started searches to trace the soldier, no terror group has so far owned responsibility for this abduction.
Army on Monday confirmed that the Solider has been abducted by militants and said that a search operation was underway to trace the abducted soldier.
“Rifleman Shakir Manzoor of 162 Battalion (TA), is missing since 5:00 pm yesterday.
His abandoned burnt car has been found near Kulgam. It is suspected that the soldier has been abducted by terrorists. Search operation in progress,” Army said in a statement.
Meanwhile the soldier’s family has appealed militants to release the soldier. “We request you to release him (Solider) if you want him to resign from the service he will,” Soldier’s sister can be heard saying in video that has gone viral on socail media.
This isn’t for the first time that militants have abducted army soliders. Earlier in 2017, LeT militants abducted a young officer- Lieutenant Umar Fayaz-from his residence and later killed him.
