Post Article 370 : Complete Integration of J&K With India
8/5/2020 12:02:26 AM

Mohd Asif Janjua

When on 05th August 2019, Union Home minister announced in parliament the abrogation of Article-370, the vast silent majority of the state breathed a sigh of relief.
This sense of relief emanated from the fact that the controversial article laid the foundations of deprivation and marginalization of various sections of the society, while at the same time ensuring hegemony of a few dominant families in the state.
One of the major advantages of the abrogation of the Article-370 has been the complete integration of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.
Article 370 had proved to be an inhibitor for the growth and development of the region and with its annulment, the region is witnessing a rapid pace of all-round growth and development. Several indicators are showing that the region is witnessing a fast pace of all-round growth. Post abrogation of Article-370, the newly carved Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an unprecedented level of growth and development in multiple sectors. In the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir the women, deprived classes and other backward castes of the society were subjected to inhuman behavior and were deprived of even the basic rights. Abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A has removed artificial legal and economic barriers between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country, ensuring a complete integration of the region with the rest of the country. This had led to the complete integration of the erstwhile state in the true sense of the term. The last year has been a year of momentous change for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The legal architecture and system prevailing in the rest of the country has been made applicable to Jammu and Kashmir, thus enabling the region to reap rich dividends of the massive economic development witnessed by the rest of the country.
With the abrogation of the Article-370, the people of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) now stand on the same pedestal as those in the rest of the country, with the same rights, benefits and prospects. Women and weaker sections like Scheduled Castes & Tribes, West Pakistan Refugees and Safai Karmacharis, now have equal democratic and economic rights.
Jammu and Kashmir is now at the doorstep of a brighter future. Barriers to industrial growth and trade perpetuated by Artivcle-370 have been removed.
As Jammu and Kashmir progresses, there will be a boost to private investment and great opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The economy will grow with more economic opportunities, businesses will thrive and the people of Jammu and Kashmir will gain on all fronts. Government has taken several measures to ensure that the local industry becomes competitive.
Post Article-370, 55 Central schemes for the benefit of individuals such as scholarships, pensions, insurance schemes, income support schemes and loans have been fully implemented with 100% coverage. Further, all toll posts in Jammu and Kashmir have been abolished from 1st January 2020 further bringing respite to the residents of the region.
The focus of the current administration has been on timely completion of projects and delivery of benefits. The priority has been to ensure that government is run in a rule based manner with no arbitrariness or delays. Accountability is being ensured at all levels. The constitutional change of the abrogation of Article-370 has opened new vistas of development for the region.
On 05th August 2020, the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir completes one year since the abrogation of the Article-370. These have been numerous success stories where women and people belonging to the marginalized sections of the society have excelled and risen to fame by utilizing the opportunities available to them following the abrogation of Article-370. While the grit and hard work of these people has been on the major drivers of their success, it is also believed that the annulment of the Article-370 has also allowed them greater access to the opportunities and resources to excel in their fields.
