JAMMU, Aug 6: The annual review meeting of State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) Jammu was today held, here at SAMETI Jammu under Directorate of Extension SKUAST Jammu following all COVID-19 SOPs.
The Vice chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P. Sharma was the chief guest at the review meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. J P Sharma, appreciated the activities of SAMETI Jammu and laid emphasis on constraints and challenges in agriculture such as small size of holdings, high cost of cultivation, decline in water table, climate change scenario.
Professor Sharma suggested for including training programme on Agri-Business/Entrepreneur, production to profitability, zero budget farming, organic farming, Agro-Based industries, farmer producer organizations, diversification, doubling farmers’ income, value addition, marketing and awareness of centrally sponsored schemes.
At the outset, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director SAMETI and Director Extension SKUAST Jammu, welcomed the chief guest and officers of the allied departments.
He presented the work done by SAMETI Jammu during 2019-20 and also discussed in detail the proposed trainings to be conducted in 2020-21 in consultation with all the officers present in the meeting.
