DDC Kathua chairs DLMC, BADP meetings
64 works proposed under 4 years Border Area Dev plan

KATHUA, Aug 7 : District Development Commissioner, O.P Bhagat, today chaired a meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee to discuss the modalities for the implementation of the Central Sector Scheme “Formation and Promotion of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO)” in the district.
At the outset, the members apprised the DDC that ground work for identifying the potential Produce clusters, its activities and mobilization of farmers in the district has been done.
The meeting proposed and approved block Marheen and block Hiranagar as two clusters for Honey and Seed Production (Cereals, Rice & Wheat) under the central sector scheme.
The DDC exhorted the member departments to converge their schemes for the promotion of making Farmers Produce Organisations (FPOs) besides providing a secure platform to farmers to market their produce. He directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to nominate one Nodal officer to liaison with DDM NABARD to address hindrances in a time bound manner. The Head KVK Kathua, ACD Kathua, DM Lead Bank, CAO, CHO, CAHO, DDM NABARD were present in the meeting.
Earlier, the DDC also chaired a meeting of officers to finalise the Annual Action Plan Proposal & Medium Term Plan for 4 years under Border Area Development Programme (BADP).
The meeting finalised the proposed Medium Term Plan for 2020-21 to 2023-24 to the tune of Rs 510.76 Cr. The plan envisages development projects for border blocks Marheen, Hiranagar and Nagri of Kathua district under BADP scheme with yearly ceiling of Rs 127.69 cr
The meeting also proposed revalidation of Rs 115.50 cr for taking up works under current financial year 2020-21.
A total of 64 development works of PWD, PHE, RDD, PDD, Irrigation and Soil Conservation are proposed to be taken up in three border blocks of the district.
Among others Commandant BSF, Chief Planning Officer, DFO, Engineers of Works Departments were present.
