Div Com reviews Independence Day arrangements in Jammu division

JAMMU, Aug 8: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, today reviewed the arrangements for Independence Day 2020 celebration in the districts, here at a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division through video conference.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Divisional Commissioner that all the arrangements have been put in place for celebration of Independence Day in their respective districts. It was informed that the functions would not include cultural programmes, and the number of contingents for March past would also be curtailed in view Covid Protocol. However, patriotic songs and cultural programmes will be screened at the venue of celebration. It was also informed that entry in the venue without face masks will be restricted. The Divisional Commissioner asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict adherence of SOPs during the celebration of Independence Day in the districts. He also reviewed the arrangements for felicitation of Covid warriors in the districts. The DCs apprised that committees have been constituted for the purpose. Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the status of land acquisition, requisition cases of Army.
The DCs apprised the Div Com of present status of land requisition and acquisition cases in their respective districts. It was informed that most of the cases have been resolved in the districts, while those pending are under process and would be cleared in a time bound manner. The Div Com sought case wise details of land acquisition, requisition cases and asked the DCs for resolving all the pending cases at the earliest. He also asked the DCs to disburse the compensation amount to the land owners. Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the progress on development of community orchards in the districts. It was informed that each district administration has identified land for development of orchards in their respective district. The Divisional Commissioner asked the DCs to expedite the process and plant local species of fruits on vacant government land. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Jammu, R K Srangal; Assistant Commissioner Central, Kulbushan Khajuria, while Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
