Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 8: Despite candidates clearing mandatory tests and interviews a year ago, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) is yet to declare a selection list of the aspirants who had appeared for the interview against the job notification issued by the corporation in 2017.
The Corporation that handles the Jammu and Kashmir Government owned power projects and deals with power generation issued a notification [JKSPDC/ADM/NG-311/4324-33 dated 05-08-2017] for recruiting around 143 Junior Engineers in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Automation and Instrumentation for a period of 2 years on contractual basis, however despite the passage of over three years now the Corporation hasn’t yet made the list of those candidates public who had applied for Electrical, Automation and Instrumentation. The corporation has made the list of only those selected candidates public who had applied for other categories including civil, mechanical and geology.
“The written test for the posts was held in June 2018 and the shortlist for various posts was published in September 2018. The interviews for all the posts except (JE Electric, JE Automation & JE instrumentation) were held in November-December 2018.
Their selection list was published in January 2019 and they joined the department in June 2019, however selection list of JE electrical isn’t being made public despite the fact that the Corporation has completed all the necessary process,” Mohammad Hussain (name changed), an aspirant told Early Times.
He said that they were interviewed in March Last year and since then the officials at the helm of affairs were unreasonably delaying it.
“There was some legal issue regarding the eligibility of few candidates of JE Electrical who had graduated from some Jammu based university but the Honorable Jammu and Kashmir High Court disposed of the issue on 5th Feb this year,” he added.
He said that on multiple occasions they attempted to meet the Managing Director of Power Development Corporation but weren’t allowed.
“From last six month at the civil secretariat we have been told that the file is complete and it just needs a single signature of the Managing Director,” he said, adding that the unreasonable delay in making the selection list public has worried the aspirants.
“Such delays also encourage corruption,” he said while seeking intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam
Repeated attempts failed to contact Managing Director JKPDC as he didn’t attend repeated calls from this reporter.
