8/9/2020 11:26:43 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 9: Depressed over alleged harassment by police, a woman PRI member from district Kathua today threatened to commit self-immolation in front of Hiranagar Police station, if timely action against erring police officials was not taken by the administration.
Addressing media persons in Kathua on Sunday, Veenakshi Khatri Panch village Paiya of Hiranagar threatened that she would commit self-immolation in front of Police Station, if action against the Police cops who trespassed into her house, was not initiated.
“I will commit suicide by self-immolation along with my two daughters, if administration fails to take action against Police Cops”, she said, adding that apart from being elected member of PRI, she is running a beauty parlor-cum-saloon.
“Yesterday, a Police team from Hiranagar Police in an attempt to defame me rushed to my saloon, the saloon was closed and the police jumped over the boundary walls and illegally entered into my premises without any reason. I telephonically tried to contact concerned SHO and other senior police officers for the unacceptable act of police officials, but no one answered my phone calls”, she added.
She said that it was a conspiracy to malign her image in public. “If police authorities and district administration fail to take action against the cops who raided my premises unauthorizedly, I will be self-immolating in front of police station along with my daughters”, she added.
