JKPCC criticizes admin for not giving permission to mark historic day

8/9/2020 11:27:56 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Aug 9: Congress today celebrated the 78th anniversary of historic "August Kranti Divas" today, with paying of floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by the party leaders from their residences, as the administration did not grant permission to the party to mark the day at party headquarters.
All senior Congress leaders decided to celebrate the historic Quit India Day by offering floral tributes to father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, who had announced to launch the August Kranti today in 1942, from their respective homes, after the JKPCC failed to receive any response to its request to the administration to allow it to hold symbolic functions at party headquarters in Jammu and Srinagar today.
Chief Spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir unit Ravinder Sharma disclosed here today that the administration did not respond to our request sent to the district magistrates on Friday. "We did not receive the requisite permission to our request for a limited presence to mark the day in a symbolic manner in party headquarters, in view of lockdown, so all leaders decided to celebrate the day at their respective residences and the spirit of freedom struggle was remembered" he said, while regretting that the government did not honour the historic day by its failures to allow symbolic functions on this day especially by the congress party which led the freedom movement and fought the quit India movement against all odds.
He said around 50000 thousands Indian gave their sacrifice in this movement when the British government tried to crush the same with the assistance of several Indian organizations, who did not support the congress at that time. Unfortunately, today they are claiming to be champion of the cause of nation and dubbing Congress and Cong men anti national.
Prominent those who paid floral tributes included former Dy CM Tara Chand, former minister and vice presidents JKPCC Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, G M Saroori, Kanta Bhan, General secretary PCC Incharge District Congress DCC Jammu Yogesh Sawhney, Th Manmohan Singh, Shah Mohd Choudhary, Faqir Chand Bhagat, Shahnawaz Choudhary, DCC Presidents, Hari Singh Chib, Dr Manohar Lal, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Krishan Chand Bhagat, Abdul Gani, president Mahila Congress Indu Pawar and others.
