JAMMU, Aug 9: Describing new Lieutenant Governor J&K UT Manoj Sinha as a vast experience political personality of the country, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today demanded a comprehensive regularizing and wages policy for thousands of daily wagers engaged with various departments in the UT of J&K and rehabilitation of the same on different guidelines issued by the Union government.
“JK to draw a comprehensive permanent regularizing and wages policy for more than 60,000 daily wagers, who have been engaged with various departments of JK including PDD, PHE, PWD, UEED, Local Bodies, Floriculture and Agriculture, Forest and others. A cabinet decision made by the previous regime drafted out a new regularization policy under SRO-520, which has been against their interests, ”Shastri said this while interacting with media persons here.
However, Shastri demanded revival and amendment of the SRO-64 of 1994 and adopt the same guidelines for the regularization of all daily rated workers. The state administrative council some months ago has issued orders for the regularization of the services of ReT teachers in the education department, which is a welcome step but the daily wagers particularly employed with essential service departments who despite being vulnerable to risks continue their duties have been not been regularized so far.
