SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today chaired the Inter-Departmental Working Group (IDWG) meeting to discuss and decide Action Plan for Centrally Sponsored Scheme Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), here.
Principal Secretary reviewed the physical and financial achievements made under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) during 2019-20 besides scrutinizing the 2020-21 Action Plans for submission to the Center Government.
Principal Secretary, while interacting with the Heads of Departments, emphasized upon converging the efforts of Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied sectors for implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) for welfare of farming community.
He instructed the Chief Engineer Irrigation, Jammu and Chief Engineer Irrigation Kashmir to expedite the work of Lift Irrigation Project Ravi Canal Jammu and Tral Canal Kashmir and complete it by October, 2020.
Regarding “Per Drop More Crop”, Principal Secretary asked for coverage of more farmers under Deep and Shallow Bore Wells.
Navin Choudhary stressed on completion of all pending minor irrigation projects in J&K during current financial year.
He instructed the Director Agriculture Jammu, who is also Mission Director PMKSY, to prepare a comprehensive Draft Note of proposals under PMKSY for entire J&K for its further submission to Government of India.
Principal Secretary also authorized the Mission Director to empanel the manufactures/companies dealing with components of micro-irrigation systems under the scheme as per guidelines.
Detailed deliberations on each component of proposed Annual Action Plan were held during IDWG meeting and Annual Action Plan 2020-21 amounting Rs. 60112 lakh was approved under PMKSY.
It was apprised during the meeting that Jal Shakti department has targeted 144 schemes with irrigation potential of 16,471 hectare during 2020-21. Further, under ‘PDMC’ an area of 5,090 hectare has been proposed to be irrigated through construction of WHTs, Irrigation Pump Sets, Borewells, Desilting of Ponds, Community Water Harvesting Tanks, Conveyance Pipes etc.
An area of 6,766 hectare has been proposed to be brought under Drip and Sprinkler irrigation of ‘Micro Irrigation’ Component. It was also informed that 5,346 activities like Construction of Field Channels, Gabbion Structures, Water Harvesting Tanks, Check Dams etc. have been proposed to be taken up under Watershed/IWMP component of during 2020-21.
Earlier, Director Agriculture Jammu, Inder Jeet, gave a detailed presentation regarding Physical and Financial achievements during 2019-2020 and annual action plan 2020-21 under “PMKSY”
The IDWG was also attended by M. R. Ghassi, Special Secretary Industries and Commerce, Mohammad Harun, Special Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, M. Y. Bhat, Director Planning Jal Shakti, Chief Executive Officer Agriculture IWMP attended the meeting.
Other Kashmir and Jammu based officers who attended the meeting through video conferencing included Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director CAD Jammu, Director Planning APD, Director Horticulture Jammu, Chief Engineer PHE/Jal Shakti Jammu, Chief Engineer RTIC Jammu, Chief Engineer PHE/Jal Shakti Kashmir, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Kashmir, Deputy Director CWC, Jammu, Deputy Director Horticulture Kashmir, Agriculture Economist, Jammu and Tech Officer PMKSY.
