Jammu, Aug 10: Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) has sought the intervention of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor to resolve the issues related to industrial sector of JK. “No action has been taken by the State administration to address the grievances of industrial units mostly being run by the sons of the soil in spite of all odds facing militancy since last 30 years”, FOIJ release said.
“The industrial sector is suffering w.e.f 8/7/2017 in post GST regime, after the abrogation of Article 370 since 5th August 2019, abolishing of toll tax w.e.f.01-01-2020 and COVID-19 situation since 25th March 2020 as most of the industrial units are awaiting fiscal relief from the State government since long but in spite of assurance given nothing has been done so far resulting nos. of Units on the verge of closure”, the release reads. The State Industrial Policy 2016 is still in existence with the Policy decision to provide the Price/Purchase Preference to Local SSI Units as Marketing Support for the supply of Goods to State Govt. Departments but in the month of January 2020 the Finance Department has directed all the State Govt. Departments to purchase the material through GeM Portal resulting the worst sufferers are the Local Micro & Small Scale Units depending on the supply of Goods to Govt. Department since last so many years, they said, adding the Power Development Department has withhold the payment of MSME Units for the supplies made under the Sobhayaga Scheme of Govt. of India for which the payment already received by the PDD from Govt. of India.
They sought intervention of LG to address their issues such as immediate release funds for the payment of wages and salary of the workers and staff of the units for the Month of April, May 2020 for the lockdown period, waive off demand charges/Fixed charges and electricity duty for the lockdown period with the direction to defer the payment of actual Power consumption Bills for the month of March, April, May, June, July 2020 or till the resumption of normal activates in monthly instalments without any surcharge.
