Omar sahib peep into the past, then ‘beat your chest’ to seek Mehbooba’s release

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 10: National Conference vice-president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Omar Abdullah, apparently seems worried about Mehbooba Mufti’s detention under Public Safety Act being extended, he keeps on demanding her release.
Omar needs to peep into the past and check for himself erstwhile J&K State, he himself detained Mehbooba Mufti for toeing the line of separatists.
On July 31, 2011, dramatic scenes were witnessed outside Mehbooba’s residence when she tried to visit Sopore in north Kashmir. Mehbooba's vehicle was obstructed by the police and she was asked not to venture out from her residence.
A defiant Mehbooba had staged a sit-in protest even as women cops tried to restrain her. She was put under house arrest.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “Separatist leanings of Mehbooba Mufti are known to all. It’s no secret that her party, PDP managed to win the good number of assembly seats in 2008 and 2014 due to her tacit understanding with pro-Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami and other separatist organizations.”
It’s in place to mention here that Mehbooba Mufti and 40 other Kashmir centric leaders were put under detention on August 5, 2019, when Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories. All the politicians, except Mehbooba Mufti, have been released. “Helmsmen have made it clear that if Mehbooba is released she could be a threat to peace and can vitiate the peaceful environment. Since the day she has been placed under detention her actions are speaking louder confidant of than her words. Her separatist leanings stand exposed,” the analyst added.
An observer said, “Omar Abdullah before demanding her release should recall and see that he too had detained Mehbooba Mufti to ensure that she doesn’t get a chance to vitiate the atmosphere.”
He said, “Mehbooba Mufti despite being in detention leaves no chance to instigate the people by tweeting about J&K’s special status and calls J&K an issue.”
“Omar Abdullah should mind his own business rather than delivering sermons as he as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir had taken similar decision vis-à-vis Mehbooba Mufti,” the observer added.
