I- Day arrangements finalized at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: The arrangements for Independence Day function were finalized here at a meeting of officers of different departments chaired by Additional Commissioner, Nagendra Singh Jamwal.
It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held at Government PG Degree College for Boys, where the chief guest would hoist the National flag and take the salute at 9:00 Am.
The contingents drawn from J&K Police, District Police Line, CRPF, SKPA and Home Guard would participate in the march past. The function would start with the Shehnai Vadan programme in the morning by the Information department. It was decided that the contingents would be reduced to 50% with no participation of school students in view of Covid threat. The theme based cultural programme like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Back to Schools, Corona awareness, Jal Jeevan Mission etc will displayed on digital wall, the meeting was told. It was further decided that full dress rehearsal would be held on 13th August.
The ADC added that the function would be conducted by strictly following COVID 19 SOPs. The PHE & PDD functionaries were asked to ensure seating, barricading and drinking water arrangements, besides uninterrupted power supply at the venue. The Chief Executive Officer, Municipality was asked to maintain cleanliness in the town as well as at the venue.
Regarding First aid arrangements, the Chief Medical Officer was directed to ensure the deployment of one ambulance along with a team of Doctors and necessary medicine till the end of function.
District Police and Traffic Police would ensure security and traffic management, the ADC added. He stressed upon the officers of various departments to celebrate the function with patriotic spirit, make close rapport and coordination so that all arrangements required for the conduct of National function are ensured well in time.
The meeting was attended by SE R&B, Shakti Sagar; GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma; ASP, Rajinder Katoch; ACR, Vikar Giri; ARTO, Rachna Sharma; DIO, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K C Dogra; Chief Education Officer, Purshotam Dutt Sharma; District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Swarn Singh and other senior officers of Civil Administration, Police, and CRPF.
