Jat Maha Sabha reiterates demand to grant OBC status to Jats

JAMMU, Aug 12: A meeting of Jat Maha Sabha held under the chairmanship of Ch Manmohan Singh President All India Jat Maha Sabha J&K in village Palura of Tehsil Rajpura, which falls under the jurisdiction of district Samba. The meeting attended by many senior community members of the area discussed many issues related to the Biradari, the main issue deliberated was to fight for OBC category. The members demanded that the government should sanction OBC status to Jats at par with that of Jats living in other states of the country.
Choudhary said that it is important for us to unite ourselves and demand the OBC category, adding that we believe that we are very close in achieving our target. In the meeting it was decided to frame a committee of Rajpura Tehsil on the pattern of other Tehsils and after a threadbare discussion it was unanimously decided that Sarpanch Reena Choudhary of Raipur be elected as Mahila president of AIJMS Samba Distt.
Ch Darshan Singh of Palura be elected as Tehsil President, Ch Darshan Singh of Rajpura as Senior Vice President, Deepak Choudhary as Gen Secretary while Romesh Choudhary, Narinder Choudhary and Kulbushan Choudhary as Vice Presidents.
