Early Times Report

REASI, Aug 12: Rural Development Department today launched plantation drives as part of the ongoing Gandgi Mukt Bharat(GMB) campaign here in all blocks of the district Reasi.
The drive was carried out in the premises of Block Development Offices, Panchayat Ghar, education institutions, along roads, parks, footpaths and walkways, during which over 1500 samplings were planted.
The BDC Chairpersons, Block Development Officers, Sarpanches, Panches and scores of local people, besides government employees planted the trees.
The plantation drive was carried out under overall supervision of District Development Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib and Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Anirudh Rai.
Appreciating the ongoing plantation drive, scheduled for all blocks by the District Development Commissioner, the Sarpanchs of Mahore, Thuroo, Gulabgarh and Chassana blocks demanded more saplings for the Panchayats which can be planted during monsoon season.
The PRIs also took the help of social media for making the ongoing campaign a mass movement to ensure ecological balance through trees. They also appealed to local people to involve their family members for planting one sapling per person in each household.
