GDC Doda Celebrates International Youth Day 2020

DODA, Aug 12: To celebrate International Youth Day-2020 and in its pursuit to improve the writing and comprehension skills of the students, IQAC unit of Government Degree College, Doda, organized a UT level Essay competition based on the theme “Contribution of youth in transformation of education”.
The competition was organized under the able leadership of Worthy Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department and Chief Patron of the event, Mr. Talat Parvez Rohella. Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Patron of the event and Principal, Government Degree College, Doda has always encouraged the faculty of his institution to organize events relevant to the welfare of student community. A total of 84 participants sent their entries to the event from diverse parts of the Union territory.
The first, second and third prizes in the essay writing competition were bagged by Ms. Ashika Bajwa (GCOE, Jammu), Zamrud Hamid (University of Kashmir) and Sumita Jamwal (GCOE, Jammu), respectively. Ashfaq Ahmed Magray (FIET, U.P), Ruksana Ramzan (GCW, Baramulla) and Akshay Kumar (GDC, Doda), secured the first, second and third prizes in the slogan writing event, respectively.
The participants were adjudged based on their original ideas, content, presentation skills and relevance to the theme. Prof. Bashir Ahmed, HoD, Physics, Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HoD, Environmental Sciences and Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Zoology acted as jury members in the said event. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani (Convener IQAC and HoD, Zoology) and Prof. Ankush Raj (HoD Computer Science and IQAC member).E-certificates and merit certificates were issued to the winners and participants.
