MSK Kishtwar launches awareness campaign on Poshan Abhiyan

KISHTWAR, Aug 12: To aware and sensitise the adolescent girls and women about the hazardous effects of the malnutrition District Level Centre For Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, organised an awareness campaign on Poshan Abhiyan at Anganwadi Centre (AWC) Matta and local women.
Programme was attended by HNMs, AWWs, Anganwadi Helpers besides other participants. While addressing the women folk, the MSK team said that the main aim of Poshan Abhiyan is to reduce low birth weight, stunting, under nutrition and anemia among children, adolescent girls and women.
Awareness regarding the benefits of early breastfeeding, antenatal check-ups, diet of pregnant women, calcium supplementation and right age of marriage was provided to the participants.
The participants were also sensitised about the importance of monitoring their child growth and the immunisation for the protection of the child against several diseases. Health and Nutrition Mobiliser of Project Kishtwar briefed about the way Poshan Abhiyan is working to reduce stunting and low birth weight in children.
