JKPYC slams abolishing of SHGs, demands immediate revocation
8/13/2020 10:41:55 PM
EArly times Report

JAMMU, Aug 13: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress slammed the move of government for abolishing Self Help Groups of engineers and their work quota of 30 per cent working in various departments like R&B, PMGSY, PHE, PDD, REW etc. in the Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the move will create too much of mess and confusion on the ground.
In a statement issued here today, Uday Bhanu Chib, President J&K PYC said that there are around 3500 such Self Help Groups comprising about 20,000 engineering graduates, operating construction activities across J&K adding that doing away with the scheme would have disastrous consequences. He said it was most astonishing that instead of creating more employment avenues for educated unemployed youth, the government was shrinking existing limited job opportunities available to them under well conceived SHG scheme. He termed this decision as anti youth and would bring total developmental pace in Jammu and Kashmir to a grinding halt.
Chib criticised the policies of central government led by BJP and previous regime of BJP in J&K which has miserably failed to fulfill the demands of youths. BJP has failed to provide two crore jobs per year which has been promised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself with the unemployed youth but it is unfortunate to say that BJP in return introducing anti-youth policies like abolishing of SHGs which has further alienated the youths of J&K, he said.
Alleging brazen disregard for the concerns of the educated unemployed and underemployed youth of J&K by BJP, Chib regretted that not a single post had been advertized for highly qualified youth of Jammu and Kashmir for filling up in the new UT after the abrogation of Article 370. Chib asserted that disenchantment amongst the educated youth having become all pervasive the apathetic approach of BJP towards their concerns could prove disastrous. He cautioned the BJP led Government at the Centre about growing anger amongst the youth of J&K and demanded immediate revocation of subsuming engineering departments so that affected youth are not compelled to come on roads.
