Land mafia grabs forest land in Fatehpur

POONCH, Aug 13: Grabbing land without any fuss has become a habit for land mafia in Poonch as land mafia in far flung village Fatehpur of border district Poonch is trying to grab forest land situated on the alignment of Mandi-Phagla CRF road.
Sources informed Early Times that there is a piece of land bearing khasra number 45 measuring 10 kanals and 7 marlas written as (jarh) in revenue record, on which a notorious land grabber is constructing double story house.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said house is getting constructed on the alignment of Mandi-Phagla CRF road. Locals of the area said that they informed Division Forest Officer Poonch about the matter but he didn’t take any notice till now.
The locals further said that the revenue officials have already declared and reported the said land, as the Forest land but neither Forest Department nor the PWD (R&B) department took any action till now.
They have appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to take serious notice into the matter and direct concerned authorities to stop the construction work and dismantle the illegal construction.
Meanwhile, when contacted, DFO Social Forestry Poonch said that there are two a complaint of the two parties after which the department has constituted a team to inquire the matter after Independence Day.
