Sit back and think
8/13/2020 11:55:29 PM
Newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has said that we must introspect and see what J&K got in the past 70 years. The LG without naming anyone has asked all the stakeholders to sit back and think, and become a part of a change which J&K has been witnessing since the day it has become a Union Territory.
Politicians who ruled J&K for the past seventy years strived for their own interests rather than the interests of the people. If one dwells deep into the events which have taken place since 1947, it becomes clear that Kashmir centric leaders just raised slogans and fell short of making any attempt to ensure that J&K people get the benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes.
Since August 5, 2019, when Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status things have changed drastically. The schemes which have been extended to the Union Territory were not even heard of in the past.
The things are moving at a fast pace. The Anti Corruption Bureau has become vibrant. During the past one year many big fishes have been nailed. The big shots—who used to believe that they are above the law—have been taken to task. The message is loud and clear that times have changed and no one will be allowed to create impediments in any way.
Had the Kashmir centric leaders concentrated on their job by now J&K would have been at the top, they kept people busy by raising unnecessary slogans and just tried to secure their own interests.
The Central Government has made it clear that J&K’s development and the welfare are the top most priorities.
The schemes which have been announced will create more job opportunities and open new avenues. The Centre has thrown open all its doors for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Now, the leaders have to put their act together and reap the benefits of revocation of Article 370. They cannot keep on beating their chest and act as “whipping boys.” They have to muster courage and tell the people that Article 370 will never comeback. They cannot keep on selling illusions forever. They have to wake up and accept that they cannot cross the line and they are no ones to settle any issues, which don’t exist at all.
