Massive protest against PDD department, people blocked road at Devipur

Akhnoor, Aug 14: Residents of Devipur Panchayat led by Sarpanch Ganesh Dass held a massive protest at main Chowk Devipur and blocked the road for two hours. Dozens of people gathered at main Chowk Devipur blocking the main road by burning tyres. People shouted slogans against PDD department. People alleged that from the last many months they are suffering unscheduled and long power cuts.
Addressing the media persons Ajay Kumar a local resident said that since last more than 3 months the residents of Devipur panchayat including village Batla, Naiwala are facing power crisis. They allege long and unscheduled power cuts from the last three months. He said that they have approached the concerned authorities many times but none of them paid heed to their grievances.
Sanjeev Kumar while addressing the media said that since Covid pandemic education of students is going online but due to long unscheduled power cuts their mobile phones also remains uncharged which suffer the education of students. He said that most residents of Devipur are dependent on farming and which is directly dependent on irrigation lift system but due to the unscheduled power cuts their farming also suffers a lot which affects their yearlong survival.
