Mayor chairs general functions, finance & planning standing committees’ meetings

JAMMU, Aug 28: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta today chaired meetings of General Functions and Finance & Planning Standing Committees in the Conference Hall of JMC. Members of the General Functions Standing Committee, Dinesh Gupta, Sucha Singh, Akshay Sharma, Sunita Gupta, Anu Bali and Members of the Finance & Planning Standing Committee Anil Kumar, Nidhi Mangotra, Ashok Singh, Neena Gupta, Anita Sharma and Gourav Chopra attended the meetings. Joint Commissioner (Adm), Aashish Gupta, Joint Commissioner (W), Sunil Thusu, Chief Accounts Officer, Dheeraj Jandial, Asstt Commissioner (R), Sudhir Bali, Secretary, Tinna Mahajan and other officers/officials of JMC also remained present in the meetings.
A threadbare discussion on the redressal of burning issues of General Function and Finance & Planning Standing Committee(s) were discussed.
Mayor, submitted a proposal in the General Function Standing Committee meeting that as Dy Mayor has already communicated this matter regarding D.C. office Chowk leading towards Peer-Kho as Jamvant Chowk and the statue of Rishi Jamvant should be installed at the Chowk. The Members of the Standing Committee approved the renaming of the Chowk and installation of the statue there after approval of the House. Immediate remedial steps to redress grievances of the General Public for installation as well as ratification of LED Street Lights within the jurisdiction of JMC.
Mayor, directed the concerned authorities for to expedite the process of recruitment of 600 SKCs, expedite the developmental works of Jammu City, one high mast light to be installed in every ward of JMC with the consent of councilors of the wards, expedite the repair works of nallahs besides other issues. He further directed the Municipal Veterinary Officer to ensure that during Navratras, both the slaughter houses should remain close and all meat shops should also be closed, illegal slaughtering to be banned. Joint Commissioner (Works) to put a proposal for more 250 CT/PT for Jammu City. He further directed the concerned authorities that no construction activities without permission from JMC of all religious places, Govt buildings to be constructed only after building permission from JMC.
In the Finance and Planning Standing Committee meeting, Mayor directed the concerned authorities to purchase single dustbins for shopkeepers.
He asked the concerned to take up the matter with Chief Engineer PDD and PHE, Jammu for not providing electricity and PHE connections to the plot owners/ Jhuggi walas where jhuggies are constructed. Mayor apprised the committee that JMC will construct four separate water filling stations within the limits of JMC to provide better water facilities to the general public, proposal of at least 5 electric crematoriums, more street lights provided to the wards. Mayor asked the Municipal Veterinary Officer to start the process of registration of pets and stray dogs to be lifted.
