EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 28: A joint press conference of various Sikh organizations held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu under the banner of Sikh Welfare Front J&K.
The prominent organizations present in the press conference were Sikh Intellectual Circle J&K, International Sikh Federation, Future of Sikhs in J&K and Sikh Nojwan Sabha.
While addressing the press conference, Avtar Singh Khalsa hailed the prompt action by Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh over the misappropriation of 328 Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The panel formed by Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib found misappropriation of records of not 267 but 328 Saroops. The panel had found embezzlement in additional 61 Saroops after scrutinizing the ledgers of 2013-14 and 2014-15. The Sikh organizations in one voice held the SGPC Amritsar responsible for all this misappropriations in the audit of records of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s Saroops.
The leaders in press conference said that if SGPC is not handling the audit of Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in proper way then how they are maintaining the accounts of SGPC. This raises the many questions in the minds of the Sikh Sangat.
The leaders jointly appealed to the Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib to excommunicate all these office bearers of SGPC Amritsar especially President, Secretaries and Dharam Parchar Committees and hold them responsible for the misappropriation of Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The leaders of these organizations welcomed the decision of Dr Roop Singh for resigning from Chief Secretary of SGPC Amritsar on moral grounds and stressed upon Gobind Singh Longowal to immediately resign from the post of President, SGPC, Amritsar on moral grounds.
