KISHTWAR, Aug 28: District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara, today reviewed the progress of implementation of the centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana in the district, here at a meeting of PMAGY convergence Committee. Village Drab of Block Trigam and village Nejoo of Block Drabshalla with over 50 % SC population have been selected for the implementation of PMAGY in Kishtwar district. The district administration has identified 27 works under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) for the 2 villages. PMAGY scheme is meant for empowerment and Socio- economic uplift of Scheduled Castes by filling infrastructural gaps in their habitations. Under the scheme, Rs 20 lakh have been earmarked for each village for development and gap filling in six identified sectors. So far Rs 10 lakh have been released for each Gram. District Social Welfare Officer, (member Secretary) Tariq Parveez Qazi, said that need based assessment, in consultation with Village Convergence committee headed by Sarpanch of the concerned village, was done and a total 27 works under designated sectors were identified for execution in these villages. The DDC directed the officers of RDD, Social Welfare, Jal Shakti, Health, PWD, PDD and other departments to prioritize the works with high outcome. He stressed on early execution of works for sustainable development on the ground. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch; Chief Education Officer Dr. Kuldeep Sharma; LDM, Naseer Ahmed; Executive Engineer, PDD Narutam Kumar besides other officers and officials.
