Vaman Jayanti celebrated with religious fervor in Raghunath ji Temple

JAMMU, Aug 29: Vaman Jayanti – the appearance day of Lord Vamana Deva – was celebrated with utmost religious fervor and enthusiasm in the Raghunath ji Temple here.
The Priests of J&K Dharmarth Trust performed Puja with all the Vedic rituals and chanting of mantras followed by the grand Aarti in the temple premises.
President J&K Dharmarth Trust expressed greetings to the people of J&K and prayed for early passage of Covid-19 pandemic. He also appealed to devotees and the public to observe social distancing and other guidelines issued by the authorities in letter and spirit.
Giving details about the Vaman Jayanti, the Head Priest of Raghunath ji Temple said that Vamana Jayanti is observed every year on the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month, the day is also known as Vaman Dwadashi. It is believed that Lord Vamana was born under the Shravan Nakshatra on this day so Vamana Dwadashi is celebrated as Lord Vamana's birthday or Vamana Jayanti.
“Lord Vamana is considered as one of the manifestations of Lord Vishnu and is said to be his fifth Avatar. Lord Vishnu appeared as the son of Kashyapa and Aditi in the form of a dwarf Brahmana (Vamana) to teach King Bali, a great devotee born in the family of demons, to reform him and rid him from his vices and finally bless him,” he said.
“Only in this Avatar, Lord Vishnu asked for something from a devotee and at the same time, he fulfilled all the desires of the devotee and blessed King Bali because of his devotion towards Him. So, Lord Vaman transformed King Bali to a place which is more comfortable than heaven,” he added.
The Head Priest appealed to the devotees, to commit themselves for devotion to Lord Vishnu which certainly leads to clean our mind and removes ego which is the root cause of all our problems in our life like greed, self-centric approach, self-indulgence and over attachments. He prays to Lord Vishnu to bestow positivity and blissful life.
