Jammu, Sept 5: International Gurjar Mahasabha held in which some members of Gurjar Mahasabha participated through video conference. In the meeting Col. Deve Anand Gurjar president international Gurjar Mahasabha appealed the government of India to revisit the decision regarding declaring official languages of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Ch. Rashid Azam inqlabi well come the decision of union government for Including five languages as official language including Dogri and Kashmiri but expressed dismay over the exclusion of Gojri, Paharai, and Punjabi from Jammu and Kashmir official languages Bill 2020, this measure is discriminatory and hurtful towards the major linguistic groups of Jammu and Kashmir. Gujjar bakerwals and paharis are demanding for Inclusion of these language in 8th schedule but no action was taken upto now. The speakers of Gojri, and Pahari, languages are numerous. If we go by the yardstick of strength of respective speakers of these languages, then these languages too should have been in the proposed bill. Unfortunately, the GOI has chosen contrarily to it sidelining all yardsticks including the strength of the respective speakers of these languages. The measure has hurt lakhs of Gojri, and Pahari speaking people, who are part and parcel of the culture of J&K. |
