| CPO expresses disappointment with FCS&CA working | | |

Jammu, Sept 15: Consumer Protection Organisation (CPO), Jammu expressed disappointment with the working of the office of Directorate of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA).
Post covid-19 the rates of all the consumable items have shot up alarmingly and the above concerned department is proving the simile (Consumer Weeping, Department Sleeping). Price fixation committee meetings are not held on regular monthly intervals. If any held in the past that is without the participation of the agreed committee members. Therefore it appears that only files are updated and no survey / implementation of the orders in the market have taken place. If any price list is printed / approved, that is not followed by the shopkeepers / sellers fleecing the helpless consumers. There is no check on the prices / quality of the consumer items be it vegetables and fruits, dairy products, karyana products, etc.
From the prevailing situations in the market it appears that the departments are helpless or hand in glove with the trading community.
We the NGO engaged for the welfare of the consumers request the LG of the UT of Jammu Kashmir, Manoj Sinha in particular and Farooq Khan (Advisor to the lieutenant Governor) looking after the department of FCS and CA, in special to pay personal attention to solve the problems of unwarranted rise in price of consumable items in the market to safeguard the interest of the helpless consumers. |
